Woodwork Floppy Filter Bags - Common issues | Dust Spares
This article is around a 3 minute read.
Here at dust spares we are committed to answering your questions and giving you the best advice, we can.
We get asked so many questions daily. We know that if one person is asking that question there is 100+ more thinking it.
So, thought it’d be best to share our knowledge. What is the point in keeping it all to ourselves?
Hope you enjoy this series and can put things in to practice.
How Do I Choose The Right Floppy Filter Bag For The Job?
First – Choosing The Bag Dimensions
The first thing to do is choose the correct length and diameter for the bag you need.
We offer a range of sizes with diameters spanning from 400mm to 640mm. Then lengths from 1000 to 2400mm.
The website initially looks like a long list. However, if you use the drop-down menu you can select the exact one you need with ease.
The bags come with a top connecting loop as standard, but if you need them altered in anyway, just drop us an email (info@dustspares.co.uk) before placing your order.
Second – Choose The Bag Material
Initially you are looking at the efficiency of the bag and how small the particulate it can catch. We offer two materials / grades as standard:
- 350g suited for standard wood dust and chippings
- 500g suited for finer dust such as MDF
Third – Choose The Bag Finish
This will be determined on the type of environment and particulate you are trying to catch.
We stock the standard finish bags online. If you need something other than the standard finish, we can supply them on demand as follows:
- Standard
- Anti-static
- Moisture resistant
- Flame retardant.
If you need a different finish to the standard, drop us an email info@dustspares.co.uk and we can get them quoted for you.
How To Fit My Floppy Filter Bag Correctly
Now you have the correct bag, how do you fit it?
A common issue we have observed over the years is right at the beginning, when you fit the bag. Making sure the bag is fitted correctly onto the spigot is important. This means, no gaps or overlaps. The bag must then be strapped down tightly or clamped firmly in place.
When searching for the right bag on our website, you will be prompted with a message asking if you needed any bag connections.
These work on a ratchet system so you can ensure the bag is held firmly in place and secured tightly. These suite most connections from 300mm to 1200mm diameter.
How To Stop My Filter Bag Going Blind
Over time this will happen, and you will need to replace the bags once they no longer do the job. However, to prolong the life of the bag, this is a question of maintenance. Make sure you schedule in regular intervals where you can allow for the machine to turn off. This will let the particulate to drop off the inside of the bag into your bin.
You’re Ready To Go.
That is it, you’re good to go. If you have any further questions please feel free to email us at info@dustspares.co.uk and we will be very happy to help.
